The Vedder River in Chilliwack BC is world famous for its year round fishing. Being just 5 minutes from my door it also makes for a great paddling destination. The Vedder River is often passed over by local paddlers as a destination because people expect challenging waters and fast currents, none of which actually reside on the Vedder.Vedder River Paddle Boarding

What does reside on the Vedder River is an abundance of wild life, world record fish stocks and some great scenery. Do keep an eye out for jet boats though, they are moving fast and probably aren't going to slow down for you. Take the waves head on and you should be fine.

Next time you are looking for a quick and easy paddling destination the Vedder River is certainly worth checking out. You can access the Vedder at the Barrow Town Boat Launch or under the HWY Bridge on the Chilliwack side of the river. For a more adventurous trip you can paddle from the Vedder down to the Fraser River and take out at the Mission Bridge in Abbotsford, don't forget to leave your shuttle vehicle down stream though, its along paddle back up!
