The 17-foot Tripper is what wilderness canoeing is all about.
A high volume hull with deep-V entry that paddles easily with a
heavy load. A shallow arch design with exceptional stability that
handles whitewater with ease. A forgiving canoe that makes whitewater
an adventure every paddler can enjoy. The Old Town Tripper is regarded
by many as the best tandem whitewater canoe available. Combine the
performance of this versatile hull with Old Town's durable Oltanar/Royalex®
material and you have one rugged tripping canoe!
What is Oltonar/Royalex®?:
Oltonar is Old Town's exclusive version of Uniroyal's Royalex®,
a multi-laminate composed of ABS, ABS foam and crosslinked vinyl.
Old Town was one of the first manufacturers to use Royalex®
in canoes, and their Oltonar laminate has evolved to include extra
layers of ABS and ABS foam for added strength in critical stress
areas. In fact, each of Old Town's Oltonar models has a Royalex®
sheet tailored to fit its specific design and intended use.
Oltonar's unique molecular configuration
has much to do with resiliency: an Oltonar canoe can be folded in
half by a bridge abutment or boulder, and then return to its normal
shape with minimum hull distortion. With its light weight, it is
often the choice of recreational and whitewater enthusiasts.
