This is my first paddle so I can't compare it to any others. It performs as advertised and is trouble free. The mechanism for joining the two sections seems adequate but I don't know if it will wear and get loose with time. I have experimented with the three settings but because I am a new kayak paddler and mostly paddle in calm(ish) conditions, I leave it in the centre position.
